G'day!
This post is for any animal lovers!
I have lived in Australia my entire life and this weekend was the first time I've ever actually been up-close with any of our animals. I had the absolute best day and thought I would share some up-close-and-personal photos of some of the animals at the wildlife park we visited (Cleland Wildlife Park).
- Please note that I left my actual camera at home so all these are photos from my iPhone and alas not exactly magazine quality! -

Ducks! |
Okay, so there are ducks everywhere - I know. But they are my favourite animal and they were at the park so they had to be included.

Emu |
Yeah, that's right. I actually fed an Emu. I won't lie, this was the highlight of the entire day. It also started to follow me around after I fed it which was a little terrifying. Luckily I guided it towards one of my friends and let it chase them. Problem solved.

Kangaroo |
These were the most chilled out Kangaroos I've ever seen. Here in Australia we're quite wary of them as they could do a loooooot of damage if they kicked or whipped you but these guys were lovely. Legit just laid there while you fed them. They come up to you, too!

Potoroo |
These little guys are called Potoroos and they kind of look like a mix between a tiny possum/kangaroo/mouse type creature. There are so many of them roaming around the park and they're just gorgeous. The fact I can't have one for a pet upsets me. Imagine the cuddles.

??? |
I don't actually know what this adorable bird is called... I am going to attempt to find out, but until then I will be calling him Buckbeak as I did all day at the park today. He is bigger than any duck and clearly a lot smaller than an Emu. He also took quite a shine to me which I'm certainly not complaining about and I'm also pretending it was me personally and not the food I had for him.

Tasmanian Devil |
I've wanted to see a Tasmanian Devil for so long and this one was gorgeous. He basically just rolled around in some sort of sleepy daze and rubbed his face in the dirt. He also didn't like to pose for pictures - rude.

Dingo |
Dingos don't really have the best reputation in Australia but... let's face it they are damn adorable.

Pelican |
You best believe I kept my distance from this one. I think Pelicans are great, they're very attractive (in a weird-beak way) and I like them but I don't trust them. If they peck you, you don't stand a chance. ONE GULP. Which actually isn't a legitimate logical fear, but I have it anyway.

Me Squinting and some Kangaroos |
And lastly there is me trying to get a selfie with all the Kangaroos in the background - Sadly it didn't quite work out for me.
Regardless, I had an absolutely amazing day at the Cleland Wildlife Park. All the animals were lovely, I only wish we had more time so we could have seen the reptiles and birds. I also wish my phone hadn't died or that I brought my camera so I could have photographed the rest of the animals. Unfortunately I didn't get to take photos of the Wombats, Echidnas or Koalas. But I'm sure there will be another day for them! I would definitely go back.
I give today a 10/10.
